Course Description:

This course is designed around two basic themes.

First, it is intended to introduce the science of CHEMISTRY as it explains the composition, structure, and properties of matter, the processes that matter undergoes, and the energy changes that accompany these processes. Specific units to be explored include:
  1. Atomic Structure
  2. Periodic Law
  3. Chemical Bonding
  4. Nomenclature
  5. Chemical Reactions
  6. Stoichiometry

Second, and of equal importance, is to prepare the student for the rigors of higher education. Specific attention will be focused on current teaching and learning strategies that will be invaluable to future collegiate studies. Of particular importance will be practice in logical problem solving, strategic reading, study skills, and computer literacy.

GETTING HELP:
Finding yourself "lost" in Chemistry can be a frightening experience, as well as a costly one. Besides class time, the instructor is available after 8th period every day. Typically, I remain in room A8 for about 15 minutes after the last bell, after which I may wander about the school. If you will be late, it is best to advise me, I will be glad to help.
